Global warming threatens the existence of the Maasai

Colin Jackson launches The Moses Charity charity appeal. 2006
It seems so long ago that Maasai Ole Moses Kipaliash, a volunteer teacher,  told us about the school at Endonyiosidai. There were over 200 children between the ages of 3 and 11 who were desperate to go to school - and yet the schoolroom hut could only hold 25 at a time. The people of Endonyiosidai were struggling to overcome the challenges they faced as a result of global warming. They were finding it hard to survive and difficult to maintain their Maasai lifestyle when faced with parched soil and very little drinking water. Sustaining a family on a small holding was proving difficult. Moses wanted to make sure that their children had better opportunities than they were able to offer them, opportunities that included an education that would prepare them for the modern world. For that they needed a classroom with a roof over their heads, recieve official school status within the Kenyan education system thus being provided with a teacher, maybe a hot meal for every pupil every day, maybe contact with children in another country, maybe access to teaching resources.... maybe...... so we launched a fund raising appeal.... with Colin Jackson at the helm.
